The Dream Became a Reality
The dream of building a new high school and remodeling the original high school became reality when the taxpayers passed a $39.8 million dollar bond on Nov. 2, 2004. Total project costs were approximately $37.3 million which includes over $1 million in land and utilities. Schematic design for Glacier was completed in April 2005 with the ground breaking ceremony taking place on May 25, 2005. The design image reflects not only the best solution for the valley, but incorporates the most progressive, researched-based thinking from across the country.
Our 242,664 square feet of facility sits on a 60-acre plot of land surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Big Sky country. The community came together in celebration on Aug. 11, 2007 to dedicate the new school. Learning and teaching took place for the first time on Sept. 4, 2007 when Glacier came alive with students and staff. Enrollment the first year was 906 students because the school opened with only freshmen, sophomores and juniors.
Enrollment in the 2024-2025 school year is approximately 1,425 students. From engineering and agriculture to music and theatre, a wide variety of educational programs are delivered by 96 certified teachers.
