Prerequisite: Required concurrent enrollment as a Running Start student in BMGT_205 at FVCC for 3 college credits.
Course Objectives: This course will blend thinking, speaking, listening, and composition skills to understand their importance in business. All of these components will be interwoven in a manner that will prepare the student for the world of work outside the classroom. We will review basic communication skills including grammar, punctuation. We will study principles and techniques of written business communications and reports using the direct, indirect, and persuasive approaches to business writing as illustrated by routine requests, claim letters, persuasive letter, bad-news messages, application letters, memos, and short reports. Some emphasis will be on oral communication, conducting meetings, intercultural communication, and business technology. This course will recognize the importance of nonverbal communication as associated with intercultural communications. This course also requires students to deliver an effective short oral report.
